girls trip

my mom and sisters and i went on a girls trip to virginia a few weeks ago. it was so much fun to see my aunt and cousins and spend time with the fam. the flight, however, was a disaster. i'll try to make it quick. we thought we had it planned perfect. my mom would sit in the middle seat between allison/emi and me/sophie. we had a crappy choice of seats and had to ask a lady to move so we could sit together. we were getting all settled in our seats when the flight attendant came by and told us we couldn't all sit in the row because there weren't enough oxygen masks. oh, and did i mention it was like 1000 degrees on the plane and sophie started SCREAMING (not just crying, screaming) the second we stepped on the plane? literally, inside the door she started screaming. so, i was already sweating from the heat of the plane, the stress of sophie screaming and everyone staring at me. when they told us we couldn't sit together, i lost it...tears and all. i'll admit, i looked ridiculous, but i was so stressed out and i needed my mommy. no one would move. luckily, the nice lady moved back to her seat and allison and emi had to sit 2 rows back. short version: emi was basically an angel and sophie cried on a off the whole 4 and a half hours, chugged 2+ bottles and slept a total of about an hour. when we FINALLY landed and she could get back in her car seat, she was so happy and smiley! ugh. the longest 4.5 hours of my life. just so you don't think it was all bad, on the way back we had a layover and, lucky for us, there were empty seats. sophie had her own seat the whole way home and slept almost the whole time. that left 3 of us to try and entertain emi, who had a harder time on the way home. i don't blame her one bit. minus the airplane, it was a wonderful trip and i love it there! we ate out at some wonderful places we don't have here, shopped...a lot, stayed up late talking, and just having girl time. thanks for the fun trip girls!

the first day we were there we hung around the house and relaxed. the kids played in the pool and on the slip n slide.

beth, allison, alicia, lynsey, ashley

we went to old town alexandria to eat at cosi. i loved that place in new york, but i was a little disappointed this time. maybe i remembered it better than it was? we of course did more shopping here too. there were so many cool buildings here. too bad it was pouring rain!

this is in dupont circle.
since i was the designated driver, i had allison take pictures for me out the window. we went to the eatern market in dc and then took a quick car tour. we went by the national cathedral, passed all the embassies on the way and lots of other cool buildings.

allison said she'd know i didn't like her if i deleted this picture (or something like that), so here you go....

What a fun trip! Your little one is growing so fast! That airplane ride doesn't sound fun. I've always wondered what it would be like to travel with a little baby.

Airplane ride... You are one brave mama! That stinks it was not a good experience, at all. :) I love Sophie's face when she was dipped into the baby pool. Oh, I love this age!!! She is the most beautiful baby ever!
