island park

a few weekends ago we went to island park with some friends. and it was lovely. it was my first time there. it was beautiful and a nice break from the 90* heat. we stayed up way too late talking and laughing, watching the kids play, 4 wheeling, eating yummy food, reading, movies, and at one point ALL of us in the house were napping. couldn't do that if we tried!
jd was so nice to wake up super early with sophie and take her for walks so she didn't wake the whole house up. and to let me sleep a little.
recognize the hat? from her newborn pictures...only now, it fits!

the jail birds four wheeling

we took a turn on the four wheelers while jordan and kate watched all the kids. ready for 4 kids under 3?
we tried desperately to get pictures of all the kids together....

london, mae and sophie holding hands.
(we didn't make them do that, they did it all on their own)

london, mae, sophie

we went to feed the fish or ducks or something, but it was pouring rain. we only lasted a few minutes...none of the babies liked it. it was beautiful though! and poor london lost her sock to a duck who thought it was bread. i tried to get a picture, but it got away too fast.

sienna and sophie playing

the 2010 babies
sienna (6 mo), london (3 mo), henry (1.5 mo), sophie (7 mo)

they didn't really like this. love this picture. and love london's face.
everyone at the campfire

the fam

walk #2. i think it was in the 30's on the morning.

the reservoir near the cabin.

sophie LOVES mae.

we also went up to yellowstone on what happened to be the free weekend! woohoo!
we stopped and saw some hot pots, had a picnic, saw some buffalo and elk and old faithful.

waiting for old faithful. soph and her favorite toy...straps.

sophie and daddy

we went back to the car to feed sophie and waited for everyone else. this is what we did while we waited. she thought it was hilarious!
thanks for a great weekend, friends!

seven

my baby is 7 months old. seven.
since she was just 2 days shy of 7 months at her last appointments, here are her stats at almost 7 months:
14 lbs 11.5 oz - 14%
25.1 inches - 12%
head 42cm - 22%
i LOVE this smiling face!
and here are a few things sophie has been loving...
going boating. or sitting on the beach so she doesn't have to wear her life jacket, which she hates.

being naked in her car seat. or naked at all.

thinking she's a big girl...playing on the counter.

rolling all over. she's not really liking her belly at the moment. she sleep on it and that's about it. she cries when i try to make her stay on her belly. she also has about zero interest in crawling, which is ok with me. (i don't know what i'm going to do when she does.) she prefers to just roll to her back or just lay down when she on her tummy. she also doesn't mind if getting her to tummy was her idea, not mine.

playing dress up.

and of course being cute.

playin on the computer. she will nosedive just to get her little hands on the computer. jd opened up word and let her type and she LOVED it. she thought she was pretty cool!

her bottle. need i say more? she still loves to hold it herself and be in control. she gets really mad if you try and take it away or if she sees it before it's time to eat. we have to be sneaky. she also likes to play with it after it's gone. she sucks on it, flings it around, hits herself in the head...and loves it.

did i mention playing naked?

playing with her feet.

and yelling. lots of yelling.
she had quite a deep, raspy voice.
i love it!
she has also become a bit of a cry baby lately? is this common at 7 months? she couldn't care less if i take toys away from her but if i take paper, necklaces or anything that isn't really a toy away, she SCREAMS. she cries getting in her car seat, getting her face wiped, etc. luckily, she's pretty easily distracted and we can usually get her laughing in no time! she has such a cute and funny laugh, we love it! good thing she is so cute!
i know, probably no one else cares about this stuff, but i want to remember what she was doing at 7 months. she still takes 3-4 naps a day, eats baby food, loves the bath and loves going for walks. despite what i just said about being a cry baby, she is generally a pretty happy girl. she loves laying down at night because she knows daddy is going to play her favorite game with her. she knows what's coming and kicks her legs like crazy. daddy puts the blanket over her face and she kicks her legs and pulls it off....smiling! i can't believe it's been 7 months already. we love you sophie sophie!

california love

we {heart} california.
can you tell? our 3rd trip in 4 years.
soph waitin to get on the plane.
she slept the whole way there in her car seat. the way home was a little rough, but not nearly as bad as virginia. she's getting to be a good little traveler.

we spent a day down in newport beach.

loved all the sweet houses around there.

pretty girl.

on the beach.

the ocean.

soph loved the beach.
i tried to keep her away from the sand, but she kept pulling on the towel to get to it. then of course it stuck to her sunscreen. that was fun to get off.

the water was super cold and jd was the only one brave enough to get in. he was shivering.

me and my girl.

soph didn't love the cold water on her feet.
i made her take pictures with me anyway.

laguna beach.
we just took a tour by car after we stopped by the nordstrom sale at fashion island and got a shake at ruby's shake shack. i'll admit, i used to LOVE watching laguna beach, so we had to see a little of it. we even saw laguna high. i'm a total dork, i know.
more laguna (through the window).

this nice lady at nordstrom gave her this balloon and she LOVED it!

this is the view from our hotel room. it was so cool! the windows looked out over the lobby. they also upgraded us to a room where we could see the disneyland fireworks.
thank you hyatt and costco.

this is the real reason we went to california. my friend nazila got married in rancho palos verdes...right next to the beach. it was a beautiful wedding. my first (and probably last) iranian wedding. i loved the different traditions and culture. pretty sure we stood out with our blonde hair. everyone was wondering who we knew. the ceremony was in farsi and arabic. they explained a little bit about it before, thankfully. pretty much, it was an all night party. and we had lots of fun! sophie fell asleep in her carseat (luckily) and slept right through all the dinner, dancing and music.
this is where the bride and groom sat during the ceremony. it was so pretty. all of the things on the table have a special significance, but i can't remember.

this is the golf course the wedding was at. right past the trees is the beach, but it was kind of foggy, so it's hard to see.

my fuzzy head twins

we had to try and keep soph busy between the ceremony and the reception/dinner. she did NOT want to be held anymore so we let her sit on the book table and play with some wipes. she was pretty happy with that...most of the time. everyone loved her and thought she was so cute. can you blame them?

lovin the attention from everyone.

the view at sunset

nazila and i
(pretty sure i'm not wearing this dress again. i look pregnant. why didn't someone tell me beforehand?)

i was forced to dance. i don't dance. i don't know how to dance. especially to persian music. jd thought it was hilarious so he started taking pictures. once i got into it, it was pretty fun.

more dancing. we left at 11pm and they were still going strong!
goodbye california. until next year?
