happy halloween...

...from our little kitty.

let's just say this was her absolute favorite part. she did at both grandma's and at our house. nerds were by far her favorite. she just loved emptying the bowl. oh, and she didn't mind the cat suit.
more pictures to come...

nine (ish)

my little miss sophie at 9 months.

at her 9 month appointment she was...

16 lbs 15 oz - 17%

26.5 inches - 18%

43.4cm head - 33%

she's still small, but at least she's proportional. she still has no teeth. i think she's working on it, though. she is babbling a lot more. she is a very noisy girl, which i love. she just talks and talks and talks. she is starting to mimic the sounds that we say. and i swear she says a few words. you might think i'm crazy, but my family has heard it. she loves to look at the pictures at my mom's house and when she saw a picture of emi, i swear she said it. she's still a squealer. and loves to yell.

here are some pretty typical pictures of miss sophie these days.

tongue out.

army crawling.
she will NOT get on her knees to crawl, but she's fast! she loves to stand up anytime she can. she will try to stand herself up with anything she can reach. she also loves to walk around the furniture, etc.

playing in her crib. this is how i found her one morning. not the first time. i have no idea how she gets her arm out of the sleeve.

her new play pen while i shower and dry my hair. she thought it was pretty cool until she tried to stand up...a little too slippery. she loves to play with her books while i shower, but this particular day she crawled over to the shower and stood up...against the shower door. i was trapped until she moved and let me out.

our piano prodigy. she loves banging on the piano. and eating it, climbing on it, etc. she is a little monkey.

she LOVES hangers. she goes crazy when she sees them.

and her animals. especially the tags. and the tails. she loves to suck on the tails until they are soaked. yum, i know.

on saturday she learned how to stand up in her crib. yikes. good thing we already moved the mattress down. she was supposed to be napping and this is what i found. she was so proud of herself. she also recently figured out how to get herself into a sitting position from her belly. not good for nap time, but it's pretty darn cute. she'll usually just play and talk to herself until she's tired enough to lay back down and go to sleep. funny girl.

jd got out the old nintendo 64 and sophie couldn't get enough. jd gave her a controller and she just loved looking at the screen.

oh, and i have mentioned that she also LOVES jewelry? any kind. on anyone. she has a little stranger anxiety, but not if you have jewelry. and it will come back to you dripping. my mom found these for her to play with and she was in heaven. she doesn't really care for regular toys, but if you have paper, jewelry or electronics, she'll be your best friend.

at 9 months, sophie also likes:
feeding herself
eating anything she can get her hands on
clapping
waving
giving kisses
books
climbing up the stairs
holding her bottle/cup

she does NOT like:
getting in her car seat
going to church
having things taken away from her (monster tantrums)
getting her diaper changed
getting dressed

pumpkin pancakes

i {heart} pumpkin.
seriously, you have to try these.
one of my favorite things about conference weekend is making yummy breakfast. mmm.
1 cup all-purpose flower
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground ginger (i used 1/4 tsp)
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 tbsp canola oil
1 cup nonfat milk
1/3 cup pure pumpkin

first, meet my cute little assistant. you MUST have one of these.
DIRECTIONS:
whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg together in medium bowl.

combine egg, oil, milk and pumpkin in a small bowl.

stir pumpkin mixture into dry ingredients.
leave to stand for five minutes.

for each pancake, pour 1/4 cup batter on to a hot griddle or nonstick skillet sprayed with cooking spray. turn pancakes when bubbles appear and edges are cooked, after about 2 minutes. cook for 90 seconds on second side. oh, and we added chocolate chips to ours...delicious! try it!

top with whipped cream.
