eight

my little sophie is 8 months old.
(even though she's closer to 9 months than 8 now. oh well.)
i think this is one of my favorite ages. she is so much fun to play with. she laughs and squeals, she's ticklish, she loves to play chase, and still has zero teeth. she is a daddy's girl for sure. she loves peaches and pretty much any fruit. she's not a big fan of the green veggies. she has gotten very good at picking up food and getting it into her mouth. sometimes that's a bad thing when she finds crumbs, carpet, strings, etc on the floor. she eats them all. she's very independent and loves to do things herself. sometimes she won't even let us feed her, it has to be things she can feed herself. silly. but she's sure cute and i love her personality.
sophie is getting so big and doing so many new things.
here is what she has been up to the last month.
i found soph in her crib like this one morning. i'm not sure how this happened. she loves to play with her bumper pads and she must have been playing and then went back to sleep. she was totally underneath it, half and half. she also likes to push down the sides and peek out to see if anyone is coming to rescue her.

soph's new favorite toy is a spatula. or anything that's not really a toy.

another favorite toy. sunglasses.

chillin in her carseat.

i also found her like this during her nap. she is so funny. i always find her in a different position every time i check on her. she moves SO much in her sleep.
silly girl.

she LOVES to stand and be a big girl. she thinks she doesn't need help and she will stand for a few seconds by herself.

so smiley. i love this smile!
in the morning, after naps, and coming home from work.

going from sitting to her tummy.

trying to crawl. you can tell how hard she's working by that toungue hanging out. she is doing a kind of army crawl all over the place. and she is fast! she pretty much gets where she wants to go army crawling and rolling.
she even rolled over to the cold air return vent and sliced her finger. she started crying a little bit and we couldn't figure out where the blood was coming from. it was on both hands and her mouth. she cried the most when we held her down to clean her up. luckily it was just like a small paper cut.

here's what else she's been up to....
the biggest blow-out of her little life. wow. it was super gross, but kinda funny, so we had to take pictures. we were sitting at yogo togo and i noticed something brown on her leg. i thought maybe we dropped some chocolate on her leg and it had melted. then i looked a little closer. yikes!
and of course she's smiling because she feels a million times better.

she was not so happy to lay on the bathroom floor and get somewhat cleaned up before she got in the tub. however, she was happy after!

runny nose and all...

she also LOVES her carseat. she doesn't particularly like getting in it, just playing with it. she loves the straps (to anything, really) and will play with them forever. she even tipped the carseat over on herself the other day and she didn't even care because she had straps to play with. so silly.

lava hot springs '10

we went to lava hot springs for our annual campout.
this year was a little different.

we started out at the pool and had lots of fun. i wish i would have taken more pictures of the kids in the water. they loved it! so did the boys!
the pool
emi keeping busy.

jd waiting on the top platform.

yikes. scary.
we had to do a couple of takes to actually get the picture. he didn't mind.

sophie had so much fun just sitting in her pack n play and playing. she was SO good!
below is why she was sitting in there. i didn't have the energy to play with her.

this is the aftermath of tubing down the river. the river won. i was totally worn out.
ok, i know it doesn't look that bad in this picture, but it got worse. in fact, i still have scabs on my leg. don't worry, i spared you the pictures of my upper thigh that was scraped up. i ended up with scrapes and scabs all over my leg, arm, shoulder and hand.
i thought i was safe getting in the river after the waterfalls...ha. the river was a little lower than usual and there were A LOT of rocks. we were heading for a small drop off when the guy in front of me got stuck. i knew i was toast. i tried to put my foot out and push him out of my way. didn't work. i knew i was going to fall out. i HATE falling out of my tube. next thing i know, i'm out of my tube on a huge rock. i got stuck in the swirl of the water and couldn't get my footing to get out. panic. it didn't help that people kept coming all around me and knocking me back under. more panic. i couldn't find jd, either. majorly panicking. somehow he finally pulled me out and got me over to the side. apparently he was holding on to me the whole time, but i was freaking out too much to realize. i'll admit, there were some tears. it was pretty painful. i tried to tough it out and get back on my tube and finish. i went a little ways and started panicking that my tube was going backwards. i'm such a baby, but i had to get out. then i had to walk to the end of the river to the car. bummer. i was done, for sure. i headed back to the camp ground and sophie was so good and just chilled in her pack n play while i iced my leg. jd decided to go again and fell out of his tube in the exact same spot.

here are his injuries.
i know it looks worse than mine. i admit, i'm a whimp.
sophie absolutely loved the swings. i have tons of pictures of her on the swings and i just couldn't narrow it down anymore. so, here ya go.

our attempt at getting emi to take a nap.
it looked pretty comfortable, so ashley got in with her.
sophie and daddy. she loved playing with this ball. and eating it.

i {heart} my family.

sophie and grandma.
my baby.
she's wearing this hat every chance she gets before it doesn't fit her anymore. i love it.
we ended up not even camping out in lava. it was super windy and it kept raining on and off. we decided none of us were going to get good sleep with the wind blowing out tent over, so we packed up at 9:30 at night and drove home. bummer. maybe next year. thanks family, we had fun!
