christmas 2010

christmas 2010 was wonderful!
our family christmas eve in our pj's
we started out christmas eve day at the kitchen's. then went to grandma kitchen's for yummy chicken noodle soup (with noodles we made) and fun.
sophie got a new puppy from rachel. she loves it!

trying on my new ear muffs.
we got a sweet new pressure cooker from jd's parents. can't wait to make something in it!
christmas morning we went to my mom's for more presents and breakfast.
i love the reindeer bum. sophie thinks its a puppy.

probably sophie's favorite gift. i put it under the tree, unwrapped. i brought her downstairs in the morning and took her over to the tree. the first thing she saw was the puppy and couldn't wait to hold it. she was squealing.
sophie stayed up super late on christmas eve...11:30. she was really happy so we let her play. then she wanted to sleep in. we had to wake her up at 8:00 to get going.

grandma and grandpa
after grandma and grandpa's we came home to open our presents.

the mess. can you find sophie?

soph with all her loot...from us. she was a little spolied. i think her birthday will be a little low-key on the present side of things. what do i get her for her birthday a week and half after christmas?
after a long nap, we went to visit my aunt/uncle and cousins. always fun to see family!
then, we went to my dad's and opened MORE presents. we were spoiled from everyone!
the girls playing with their zhu zhu pets from grandpa.
adam/allison and ashley/chase weren't able to be here on christmas, so we extended it yet another day and went to my mom's the day after christmas for the rest of the celebration.
emi gave sophie this big, pink puppy. she LOVED it! she was kissing it and saying "puppy" over and over.

my pretty girl.
and, one last picture to show you how our christmas ended...

poor adam, went off a jump on his snowboard and broke his back in 2 places. he got to take an ambulance ride. he's in a lot of pain and has a long recovery ahead. luckily, he's going to be ok!
we had a fabulous christmas and are very blessed to be able to have our families around to spend lots of time with. now, on to the birthday planning.

eleven

my baby is 11 months old.
and she is a nut. she always has us laughing.
i'll try to keep it short since the pictures are the best part, anyway.
she has 2 bottom teeth and, i think, is working the 2 top ones.
she weighs about 18 pounds and is definitely growing. she is actually fitting into some 9 month and 6-12 month clothes, yay!
i tried to take some pictures and the tongue is out in almost all of them.
this one is my fave...

jd and i were cracking up at this one!

sophie love, love, LOVES dogs.
she loves her jammies that have dogs.
she says puppy and gets really excited everytime she sees them.

this is what we call the soph-hawk

she likes to read in the tub. really, she just loves the tub.
sophie and her new backpack that she thinks is a puppy.
everything is a puppy or a baby. her 2 favorite things.

standing all by herself. in one of her christmas dresses.

hello, bedhead.

our little turtle. a little explanation...she was trying to climb out of her high chair to the laptop when jd was taking her out. we wanted to see what she would do (don't worry, we were standing close by). she got onto her hand and knees and crawled across the counter with her high chair strapped to her back. we were laughing so hard, which she thought was funny!

sophie loves to dance. especially to vampire weekend's holiday. ya know, the one on the honda commercials? she goes nuts. emi and soph had a dance party and were lettin loose.

on thanksgiving we watched daddy run a 5k. it was super cold. soph was wrapped up in like 4 layers.

we waited in the car most of the time so we didn't freeze. how do you entertain an 11 month old in the car for 30 minutes? let her play in the driver's seat, of course. she kept trying to get the keys and accidentally honking the horn and scaring herself.

the stairs. i should have thought about this a little more when we bought the house. the stairs are a daily battle. she is really good at going up and down. it's just getting turned around to go down. she tries to go down head first. luckily, she hasn't fallen down the stairs...yet. she kind of rolled down the first one the other day, but it think it scared her enough she hasn't tried it again.

sophie is doing really well walking. she still holds onto things occasionally, but has been really brave in letting go and just going for it. she doesn't even mind if she falls. she just gets right back up and keeps going.
she is getting more independent all the time. she like to do things herself and she doesn't like to be forced into things...like getting her diaper changed, getting her nose wiped, drinking her bottle or getting dressed.
she is really a pretty happy girl and loves to play and squeal. as i mentioned before, she LOVES puppies. anything to do with them. and she will tell you when she sees one. she calls the reindeer on her jammies puppies, too.
she is talking more, too. she jabbers all day long. she has added kitty (which i haven't witnessed), hi, and pa pa (grandpa) to her vocabulary. i swear sometimes she says sophie, thank you, and all done. who knows!
love you my little soph, and can't believe it's almost your birthday!

teeth!

finally!
i was starting to wonder if she was ever going to have any.
she doesn't like to show them off very much, as you can see.
aren't those the cutest teeth you've ever seen?
