work, work, work

i do not have a particularly interesting job, thus i get bored very easily. my job is very tedious. i work in the cath lab at intermountain medical center and take information from the chart and put it directly into a database on the computer, then i create a picture of the heart with the findings from the study. pretty cool huh? it does require some skill however....reading 20 different doctors handwriting, deciphering what the doc actually means, and making my best guess at where stents are placed and lots of fun things like that. not that i would prefer something else at this point....where else am i going to find a job making the money i do without a degree? and let's not forget working whenever i want. so aside from the fact that what i do is pretty freakin boring, i wouldn't really trade it. (i got a little off-track...) so today was an especially boring and overwhelming day with about 50 charts staring us down. lucky for me i have a very entertaining cubicle buddy! we usually get through our days quoting movies, sending funny emails, and laughing at each other, but today we had a fabulous idea! somehow we started talking about the game guess who....we really wished we had it so we could play. in its absence we decided to pretend like we had it by way of email. just so you get the picture, we sit about 6 feet away from each other. (i realize this sounds really silly, but we have to do things like this to get through the day!) it kept us entertained while knocking out our huge stack of charts. we were laughing so hard! i'm pretty sure everyone else in the office thinks we are crazy! and by the way, i totally won both times! i rock! and it was so fun! just thought i would share our great idea with everyone! if you're bored at work a little guess who will do the trick!

i'm in love

jd and i are totally obsessed with tennessee right now. i think that is our number one choice for optometry school. we are so excited to go! we got a little overexcited yesterday and were looking at houses for fun! and then i saw it. THE house! i absolutely love it! isn't it cute? i wish that we were moving right now so we could buy it. sigh....i guess i'll just have to wait....

blast from the past!

i found quite a treasure tonight! i wish more of these friends had blogs so they could appreciate this! hopefully jenna will! this is only a small part of this collage of pictures i made for the friends for christmas in 2001 (i think). wow, that seems like so long ago! this is a random assortment of pictures from 9th and 10th grade. man, we sure thought we were cool! ha ha! this was just funny to look back at these memories! we were so silly! and i have 1 word for jenna....WHAIT? this also contains the infamous "flying" picture. i love it! my, how we have all changed. it is so strange to look back and see how things were and how different they are today....everyone leading their own fabulous lives. getting married, being married, having kids...wow! it sort of seemed like these days would never come! i think i have another one of these lying around...i'll have to find it! anyway...love you guys!

my pearl...i mean, jd's

jd needed a new phone really bad and he was going to get some cheap phone, but finally decided on a blackberry pearl! (my brother-in-law got one last week and i knew he would want one when he saw it!) they didn't have black in stock so they gave him a loaner one in white, but we have to bring it back in excellent condition which means i have it until he gets the black one next week. he tends to be a little rough on phones. i'm not sure i want to give it back...i love it! i can't get one until june :( i am quite disappointed! jd told me i could keep his and he'll get one in june. how nice of him! i'm going to give it back....i want the gold one! and his phone barely works. until next thursday i will love "my" blackberry...

tagged

so i've been tagged by ashley deatry. here are some things about me you may not know

1. i love, love, love to organize things! if i could stay home all day and organize i would! i love things to be in order! my clothes, shoes, pantry, fridge, books, movies, you name it! i also love organizing other people's things. i have often been recruited when someone in my family is moving to organize clothes (my specialty), shoes, kitchens, bathrooms, etc. if you walked into my house right now you may not believe this is true....we are very quickly running out of room in our little house and i don't have many more places i can put things!

2. i think pineapple is my absolute favorite food! kind of a strange one i know, but i love it! and oddly enough disneyland and disneyworld have the best pineapple on the planet! man, if i could stay home and organize and eat pineapple i'd be i heaven!

3. i am afraid of everything. really. not just afraid, terrified! snowboarding, snowmobiling, 4-wheelers, diving boards, water slides, wake boarding, tubing (water or snow), water, jumping off of things i.e. cliffs, house boats, etc. i don't think there is any end to this list. and yes, i have tried all of these things. this past year i did a lot of these things. lucky for me, i have a husband who LOVES all of these! i went tubing (water and snow), jumped off a cliff, went 4-wheeling, went off the diving board and went on water slides! i also think i was a very good sport! i am not really sure why i am afraid of these things, i have yet to find out. i think my mother instilled in me when i was very young worry and imagining the worst possible scenario...she is very good at it as well.

4. when i met jd i said to ashley barker, "he's cute, but his last name is kitchen!" i always thought for sure i would get lucky and get a good last name when i got married...i always thought eccles was weird and no one knew how to say it or spell it. i got kitchen. still no one knows how to spell it. do you have a kitchen? then you know how to spell it!

5. i LOVE shopping for baby clothes! they are so cute! i am totally in trouble when i have one of my own! this is a horrible obsession. i'm totally aware of that. jd thinks i'm nuts....i shop for children i do not have! i usually end up giving them to my friends or my nephew. i decided i love shopping for baby clothes no matter who the child belongs to!

6. i love to travel! ok, so you may have known that already. luckily, jd does too! we have lots of plans for when he is FINALLY finished with school and making some money! i think our first destination will be greece. i have been obsessed with going to greece for the last year! i have a greece calendar on my wall at work. i look at it everyday. it looks so beautiful. some other destinations would be...france, italy, spain, england, scotland, fiji, tahiti, dubai, and a trip down the entire east cost with stops including maine, vermont, boston, new york of course, dc, the carolinas, and georgia. oh, how i love the east coast! i would absolutely love to live there again! it is so quaint, but yet there is so much to do and you are so close to big cities. mmm!

now you know just a little bit more about me!

shout out for david!

ok so i kind of know david archuleta (on american idol) in a weird way. he is my uncle's nephew and i met him about 5 years ago when my uncle married his aunt. he sang at their wedding and did a fabulous job at the age of 12! anyway i had the chance to meet him when he had just won jr. star search. since i suck at posting videos you will have to click on the link and watch it on youtube, but he is awesome! seriously, you should watch if you didn't catch it last night on american idol. all of the judges love him and he's only 17! wow! he is amazing and is just darling! he has my vote! and probably the vote of every other girl in the country because he's so cute! i voted for him like 8 times last night! yay david! i will have to dig up my picture with him and post it....yes, my dad made us take a picture with him which i thought was really silly at the time! anyway, check him out and vote for him! good luck!

sunny st. george

this weekend we went to st. george for the annual president's day weekend bingo trip. we go to st. george and spend the weekend shopping, eating, playing bingo, and going to the parade of homes. we had so much fun, and it was so warm we didn't want to come home! it was about 60* there which felt a little bit like heaven! allison, adam, and i went down on friday morning and played all day. we went to check out my cousin krisit's new house and it's amazing; i love it! i love hanging out with her and her family...they are so fun! she feels more like a sister and we have to much fun when we all get together! we went shopping, went to dinner, and played games. saturday was the annual bingo trip to mesquite....always the highlight of the trip! there is nothing like walking into that smoke filled casino and sitting down with your bingo dobber! i get so stressed while i'm playing that i'm going to miss something and not know i won! and i almost did win! i just needed one more number and i would have won like $300 dollars! anyway, after 2 rounds of bingo, we headed back. we had pizza, sat in the hot tub and watched movies! on sunday we went to hear kristi, greg, rylee, grace and ben speak in sacrament meeting and they did an awesome job! what a great family! i can't believe what an awesome job they did! rylee and grace wrote their own talks! rylee is 11 and grace is 7. their talks were both so sweet and heartfelt! ben ,4, shared a scripture and it was darling! we had a picnic at the park and played with all the kids. then we went and toured a few of the houses in the parade of homes. wow! there were some really amazing homes! sometimes i don't want to come home to my house after that! (i just realized i'm not sounding like a great person right now....the casino, the homeshow on sunday....oops!) then we all gathered at kristi's for hawaiin haystacks and games! we played sardines with the kids in their huge new house! we had so much fun and cute little gracie was just cracking me up! we were hiding in the corner under a blanket with like 6 people and she was so dramatic! we were trying to be quiet and she was getting so hot and sweaty she said, "i'm so sweaty i think i'm going to die!" which made us all laugh. and when rylee asked her if she was crying she said, "no, i'm sweating!" i had so much fun playing with little mia...she is so sweet! i wish i would have got a picture of her! and ben! i love his little laugh! what darling kids! they are so much fun and i always hate leaving! we went to lunch with them today and then to a few more houses. we saw one house that was 21,000 square feet. it had 7 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, 40ft waterfall, bowling alley, arcade, 2 theaters, a sports bar and that's not all! it was a little over the top. no, not a little...a lot! it kind of made me sick. i don't really know how you can feel ok or good about yourself with that extravagant house when people are starving, living on the streets, and living in such poverty. it was a little ostentatious and showy i thought. but i do admit it was fun to look at! it felt more like a little city. everything you could ever need was right there...you never need to leave your house! this morning i found a fabulous deal at real deals in st. george. i called jd and asked how he felt about it and kind of gave me the parent guilt trip...i'll let you decide. ah! i hate that! i did it. i bought it! but i don't have it home yet and it doesn't seem real! i will post a picture of my "real deal" when i get it home! for now, i'll leave you in wonder. oh, and i almost forgot....jd found himself a little treasure too (after i was instructed not to buy any more home decor for a while). we found these glasses for 75% off! i'm not really sure who else in this world would buy these! we bought them for when jd is done with school and has his own optometry practice. this is something we would never find again so we HAD to buy them! we even got an "investment" from kristi for them. they are so funny! anyway, thanks for a fun weekend kay and kristi, greg, rylee, grace, ben and mia! love you guys!

i really can't believe i didn't take more pictures! this is all i got! but i love it! i think it's so funny! who knows where we're going to store these fro the next 6 years!

more valentines

we also made some really cute valentines sugar cookies at jenny and trevor's house! they were so yummy! i think we ate more than we frosted...oh well! we had so much fun with everyone! thanks guys!

happy valentines!

this valentines day we decided not to get each other presents. jd knows me too well and knows that i tend to get a little carried away when i buy presents for people! i.e. my 7 friends that are having babies....i really like to shop for baby clothes and since i don't have my own, i have to buy them for everyone else! anyway....we decided to skip the presents and go to dinner. (we also went to st. george this weekend which jd probably figured would end up costing him a bit...which it did! i'll get to that later...) i love valentines day and i felt so festive at work with all the flowers and candy and my heartfailure shirt! jd sent me these beautiful flowers at work and they smelled so pretty! i hated leaving them home all weekend to die! jd likes to surprise me when we go out to eat on special occasions and he doesn't like to tell me, but i always guess! (he hates when i know what he's going to do!) we went to maddox and it was so yummy! we both got turkey steak and loaded up on rolls and raspberry butter! after we were sufficiently stuffed, we decided to head home. sadly, the rest of our valentines day was not so fabulous due to the homework factor. i had homework that had to be in before we left for st. george so i spent the rest of the night doing homework. we had plans to watch a movie, but when i finished my homework, i found jd asleep on the couch! we decided to just bag it and go to bed since we both had to be up early. i can't belive this is our third valentines together! thanks babe! i love you!

major disappointment...

so i had a major disappointment last night as i watched the very last episode of gilmore girls. yes, i know i am a little behind the times. over the past few months i have dedicated many hours to the watching of the gilmore lives only to be majorly disappointed last night with the resolution of things. what a waste! i almost felt like a part of the gilmore family. i mean, 7 years of rory and lorelai. i was so entwined in their lives...sort of childish i know, but i was hooked! it seemed like everytime something good happened, they took it away! i guess i actually have a bone to pick with the writers. why couldn't it just end happily like a chick flick or something? i mean, it's the last episode, they can't just let it end on a good note? i am no longer in love with this show! we definitely have a love-hate relationship. i know, it may seem dumb that i am so into this show, but i started watching it when it first came out. my mom and i used to watch it together every tuesday night. it kind of reminded us of ourselves....i was 16 just like rory and it was just my mom and i at home. i watched it off and on through the years, but recently watched all of the seasons. i wouldn't have thought it would be addicting! i was most upset about the rory/logan situation. i can't believe she turned him down! is she nuts? first of all, he's totally hot (don't worry, jd thinks he's pretty good looking too) and he's perfect! they dated for 3 years in vain! and after all they had been through? ah! and i'm just so bugged by the way he just said, "goodbye rory" and that was it! you can't end a show like that! terrible! at least lorelai and luke had a good ending....although christopher was really growing on me. i decided that i'm just going to pretend there was a happy ending. i am going to pretend that logan and rory ended up together and lorelai and luke...and everything was happily ever after! well, with that said and a happy ending, i guess i'm done. if there is anyone out there that is as disappointed as i, please tell me!

i would just like to say a few words

i would just like to say a few words about mitt romney....i know this is kind of random, but something i was thinking about yesterday. i heard on the news he was planning to come to president hinckley's funeral and i thought that was really neat! right in the middle of the primaries he is taking time out if his campaign to pay tribute to a great man. all of the other candidates are so concerned with winning this state or that state and getting ahead. mitt romney is putting his campaign on hold to pay well deserved respect. how cool is that? if you don't like mitt or even repsect him, he at lest deserves some credit for that. pretty cool! i am not really partial to anyone in this election...i like to stay as far away from politics as i can. as ignorant as that may seem, it's true. i have many people that are furious with me because i choose not to vote. which i don't think is a bad thing. i think voting ignorantly is far worse than not voting at all. it's a right, not a requirement! maybe at some point in my life i will choose to try and understand politics...but as for now, i will support whoever is president because they are the leader of our nation. (i do realize this may be a little controversial.....a little controversy never hurt anyone right?
