15 weeks

yesterday was 15 weeks.
here i am.
i kind of cheated because you can't really tell in this shirt.
there really is nothing to see anyway...promise.

we went to the doctor yesterday and she said everything looks good.
we got to hear the heart beat and it was about 157.
she also made me feel better about jd making it back in time for the birth. she said we'll talk about it again at 36 weeks and see what we need to do, but she assured me we can schedule and induction if we need to.

i also got 2 ultrasounds done at work.
the first one we couldn't get a good bum shot to see what the baby is...the bum was wedged in my back and was NOT moving. so i had to drink a ton and come back. the second time around we got a pretty good shot and the tech says she really, really thinks it's a girl and she would be surprised if it was a boy. if it's a girl you can see 3 dots and 2 white lines that are the "girl stuff" and we saw them! just to make sure, i'm going back again next week to make sure nothing appeared.
(so i guess i can start calling it a her?)
on the ultrasound you could see her mouth opening and closing and 5 fingers on one hand, but we couldn't see the other one.

can't wait to see this baby again next week!

i also couldn't resist some cute girly things at target today...hope i don't have to take them back!

4th of july

since it's july 27th i figured i probably better post my 4th pictures.
they're mostly of emi...i didn't really take my camera anywhere because i was afraid it was going to rain and i don't have a case yet.

on the 3rd we stayed over at my mom's for our annual camp out and fire.

we had so much fun chillin and roasting dogs and smores.

just as we climbed into our tent and comfortable, it started to rain so we had to pack up our stuff and run inside.

we woke up to the cannons in the morning and went to the kaysville breakfast at the datc. it's so fun to see old friends and neighbors, even if its only once a year!

next up was the parade. at least it least it wasn't as hot this year.
emi got a bunch of mardi gras beads from the taco time float and loved them!
jd got a texas tie from the missionary mall...i should have got a picture, he put it on as soon as he opened it.
we went to farr's and got ice cream and then visited my dad and my aunt sally before hitting up the fireworks.

here is emi ready to get in her hippo pool

linc liked the pool more then emi.
he was SO excited it was a hippo.
he kept saying "ooh, that's a cool hippo pool!"

the boys riding their bikes

showing off their wheelies

jd took some sweet pictures of the fireworks

emi and linc

since it wasn't nice enough weather to slip n slide on the 4th we busted it out on sunday

i talked the boys into going down all together

this was the result.
they were all sore after.

stacey went down with linc and he was a little upset.
don't worry, he eventually decided he like it.
emi chillin on the swing with ashley

round 2 of swimming for emi.
(most of the pictures from the first time mysteriously got deleted)

after he decided he liked the slip n slide

aunt ro
i just love her face in this one.
right before she lost it...

baby k

here is an update on baby k...

i have the awesome luxury of free ultrasounds at work. i love it!
my cousin did an ultrasound last week at 12 weeks. unfortunately it's only video and i can't put it on here. the baby was totally just chillin out and would not move at the beginning. then it started kicking its legs like crazy...it looked like it was riding a bike.
i love to see baby k and see it's heartbeat!

today we reached 13 weeks. yay! the weeks are going by so fast. i kind of hope they keep going this way. i have a feeling those few weeks between christmas and january 19th will be going REALLY slow. baby k seems to be doing good...as far as i can tell from the outside. i have an appointment with my doctor again in 2 weeks so i'll keep you updated.

i've been feeling great and slightly less tired. i really don't feel any different yet. no belly (other than what was already there) and only 1 pound so far.
things have been a little more crazy than we anticipated...
we didn't think switching insurance would be such a nightmare...but it is.
no one in texas will accept me and i don't want to take the chance of trying to pay for it ourselves with no insurance. the way my life works, if i don't have it something will go wrong. we just decided it's too big of a gamble...who knows if i could end up having a c-sections, bed rest, have the baby early, nicu, etc. plus, i am a HUGE worrier and could not rest easy unless i knew i had a plan.

so, here's the plan...
i will stay here and keep my job, my insurance and my doctor until the baby is born.
jd will be in san antonio starting his first semester of school.
not a great plan, i know, but kind of the only option left.
it will only be for september, october, november, and 2 weeks of december. then jd can come here for christmas until school starts again. we are really hoping this baby comes a little bit early before jd's school starts. that would REALLY help. i'm not counting on that though because this baby didn't come in the first place when we really would have liked it to, so why now?
this is a pretty lame situation, but this is the only way we can be sure of having insurance and knowing what we will be responsible for with the bills. the plan is to go visit every other weekend or so and jd will be here for thanksgiving. i'll be living with my mom and rod and will surely needs some friends to keep me busy! PLEASE give me a call!

some things about baby k...

some people are curious and some have asked. some know the story and some don't.
let me just say...i'm not telling this for pity or for anyone to feel sorry. we're happy with how things turned out, even though it's going to be hard. people have asked, but most importantly i prayed every day to understand this situation so that i could help someone else.

we were expecting baby k roughly 2 years ago. i stopped taking birth control in may of 2007, with the expectation that something would happen in the next 6 months or so. nothing did. things got a little complicated. i was not pregnant, but had no periods. i visited my doctor and found out i have pcos (polycystic ovarian syndrome). sometimes it causes infertility, sometimes you are fine, sometimes it takes a really long time. for me it was a really long time.

throughout the last 2 years, we have waited and waited, jd and i both went through lots of testing only to find out my dr. wouldn't really help us until august of 2009 when it had really been a year from all the testing. jd had required sperm tests and medication and i had plenty of blood tests, exams, and a hysterosalpingogram (they inject dye to see if your tubes are open). i tried to be patient and wait, but in march i couldn't take it anymore. one of my dear friends recommended a reproductive endocrinologist to me and i absolutely loved him...besides the fact that he was successful! we initially saw him in march, and he wanted to start me on clomid. he was so nice and really explained the process of pcos. he said 90% of women with pcos get pregnant, it just takes them about 4 times as long...which means 24 months.

i started clomid in april and was told to take a pregnancy test before my next medication to induce a period. i took the test to hawaii with me...negative. i shrugged it off (as i had gotten used to) and thought we'd try again the next month. (no, this was not a hawaii baby. a few people have asked, but seriously jd's parents were 3 feet away in the same room.) i was super tired in hawaii and i started thinking when i got home. i talked myself out of taking a test because it always turns out negative. on may 20th after i got home from running, i just decided to take a test for some reason...i don't know why. the second i set it down both lines appeared. i was so confused, i grabbed the box and yelled for jd. it was positive. i still didn't believe it so i took the second one....positive. i still kind of doubted it so i got a blood test the next day. positive. ok, i couldn't deny that. i felt bad that i wasn't more excited at first, but i didn't really know what to do. i have waited for this day for 2 years and it didn't exactly go how i thought it would. but, either way we are so excited and amazed it finally happened. i was afraid of being excited just in case it wasn't real or it was taken away.

it has been a long and incredibly hard road. there have been many tears shed and many times i felt like this would never happen. i never ever dreamed this would be us. i always assumed that when we wanted to have a baby, we just would. no problem. i have learned a lot and jd and i have become closer. we have depended on each other and helped each other through some rough times. i have gained faith in my heavenly father, that's for sure. he was waiting for the right time. i'm still not sure exactly why this is the right time when it seems so hard, but i am willing to accept whatever challenges we have. this is what i wanted, what i dreamed of and i will be happy with it! so, needless to say this baby was definitely planned...just a little late.
we can't wait for baby k and love this baby so much already!

san antonio...again

we went to san antonio again last week to look for a place to live.
wow. it was hot. it was 105 most days and only cooled down to about 90 at night.
things were a lot more brown this time. i guess its not normally quite this hot. the news said they normally have about 8 days over 100 and they've already had like 20 with no end in sight. ugh.
i wish we had some pictures of our hotel to better tell you why and we had 3 different rooms.
it reminded me of the friends where monica and chandler go away to vermont and keep changing rooms...i love that show!
when we opened the door to the first room and there were 3 other beds piled on top of the bed, along with bed frames and chairs. we hauled all our stuff back down to the desk and they gave us a new room...with only one bed.
the second room was worse. i pulled back the comforter and there was a bloody thing on the backside (which means it was touching the sheets). AND a blood stain on the mattress pad that i could see through the sheet. sick. i felt silly going back down to the desk, but got over it when we reminded ourselves we're PAYING to stay here. we already unpacked, so we had to pack up again and move.
the manager gave us a new room (with only one bed and relatively clean sheets). they called our room later to ask if we wanted to upgrade to a suite....no! the last thing we wanted to do was move again! so they credited us for the first night...woohoo!
the manager new us by name after that and asked us how everything was every time we saw him. awesome.
on our way into downtown.
we thought it would be cooled down enough by 8...ha.
we walked around for a little bit, found some ice cream and went back to our hotel.
the ice cream was literally dripping off the cone before you could eat it.
we found a place to live in the first 2 days.
that left us with 2 days of nothing. it was too hot to do anything outside, so anything we did pretty much involved driving in the air conditioning.
we drove up to austin for a few hours to check it out.
there was this cool river along the city. there were a lot of homeless people asking for money there.

here's the state capitol.
jd thought it was just a "cool building" until i reminded him what the capitol of texas is.

a cool church we passed.

we drove through new braunfels to check out schlitterbahn's (the waterpark) and found this beauty.
you'll have to click on it to make it bigger and really see all the crap. i wanted to get a better picture, but i had to hurry before the guy in the driveway saw me.
i love it.
yes, to the left of the picture in the glass case is jesus hanging from a cross...kind of creepy.
we decided to drive by the temple to kill some time.
it's pretty small, but it is really pretty.
it has really pretty stained glass and an awesome view.
it sits up on a hill and you can see out in every direction.
we only made it around the outside of the temple before it got too hot.

here is the view from the top of the hill.
i think if you look closer you can see downtown.

and i found this beaut at wal mart. they never fail me.
for you cakewrecks junkies, it is indeed a CCC (cupcake cake) made into a dog.
hmm...
saturday we tried to go to downtown one last time, but again...it was too hot.
we ate lunch and bagged it. we just got in the car a drove and enjoyed the cool air.
we drove south of the city to a really scary part where there is the historic mission concepcion.
it was cool, but of course, too hot to get out a tour.

that's about it for our trip to san antone.
we found an apartment that is pretty nice. it's no house (like we were hoping), but it will do. for some reason they don't want us to buy a house without having a job there...crazy.
it is a little bigger than we have now and it has 2 whole bathrooms! and windows! that's pretty much all my requirements.
the complex is nice and has 2 pools, tennis courts, sand volleyball (only to be used when it's not 100+ degrees outside), 2 work out rooms, and wi fi.
don't worry, we'll make room if you want to come visit!

my eggo is...

prego!

we are so excited for this baby in january!
yes, we know, kind of crazy timing but we'll take what we can get!
here's the proof.
i needed it.
i took 2 of these babies and a blood test.
i was in total shock. i've just come to expect it to be negative and i didn't even know what to do. i had to get the box out and look at it a few times to make sure. then take another one. then get a blood test the next day to make sure it was real.

this is at 11 weeks.
look how cute!
so far everything is great!
the best part? no barf! at all! i've been feeling great, other than a little tired.
we'll keep you updated on baby k!

ps...i really HATE the word prego, but i LOVE that part of juno!
