we went to lava hot springs for our annual campout.
this year was a little different.
we started out at the pool and had lots of fun. i wish i would have taken more pictures of the kids in the water. they loved it! so did the boys!
we had to do a couple of takes to actually get the picture. he didn't mind.
ok, i know it doesn't look that bad in this picture, but it got worse. in fact, i still have scabs on my leg. don't worry, i spared you the pictures of my upper thigh that was scraped up. i ended up with scrapes and scabs all over my leg, arm, shoulder and hand.
i thought i was safe getting in the river after the waterfalls...ha. the river was a little lower than usual and there were A LOT of rocks. we were heading for a small drop off when the guy in front of me got stuck. i knew i was toast. i tried to put my foot out and push him out of my way. didn't work. i knew i was going to fall out. i HATE falling out of my tube. next thing i know, i'm out of my tube on a huge rock. i got stuck in the swirl of the water and couldn't get my footing to get out. panic. it didn't help that people kept coming all around me and knocking me back under. more panic. i couldn't find jd, either. majorly panicking. somehow he finally pulled me out and got me over to the side. apparently he was holding on to me the whole time, but i was freaking out too much to realize. i'll admit, there were some tears. it was pretty painful. i tried to tough it out and get back on my tube and finish. i went a little ways and started panicking that my tube was going backwards. i'm such a baby, but i had to get out. then i had to walk to the end of the river to the car. bummer. i was done, for sure. i headed back to the camp ground and sophie was so good and just chilled in her pack n play while i iced my leg. jd decided to go again and fell out of his tube in the exact same spot.
below is why she was sitting in there. i didn't have the energy to play with her.
this is the aftermath of tubing down the river. the river won. i was totally worn out.

here are his injuries.
sophie absolutely loved the swings. i have tons of pictures of her on the swings and i just couldn't narrow it down anymore. so, here ya go.

sophie and daddy. she loved playing with this ball. and eating it.
i {heart} my family.
she's wearing this hat every chance she gets before it doesn't fit her anymore. i love it.
we ended up not even camping out in lava. it was super windy and it kept raining on and off. we decided none of us were going to get good sleep with the wind blowing out tent over, so we packed up at 9:30 at night and drove home. bummer. maybe next year. thanks family, we had fun!

Super cute pictures...except for the nasty scrapes...sorry you got hurt. Sophie is growing up so quick. We seriously need to go play!
