happy birthday grandma dot!

today is my grandma dot's 92nd birthday! wow! we celebrated her birthday on sunday and then went to visit her tonight as well. she tends to get a little lonely and confused where she lives so we thought we'd cheer her up with some company, brownies, and ice cream! she was so excited! she pretty much broke my heart when she said just before we came over she was thinking about how lonely her life is and then we showed up! i wanted to cry! i love her so much and she is so caring and loving to everyone. how could you not love grandma dot? used to love listening to her stories when i was younger. she always had fabulous stories about how much things cost in the 1920's, my grandpa in the war, how she was engaged twice, going to lagoon, etc. she never fails to disappoint you with a good story! she has been such an example to me and such big part of my life. she has done countless things for my mom, my sisters, and i. she is so generous and loving. she is still quite healthy for her age, but her mind is slipping a bit. it breaks my heart every time she gets confused and upset, i just want to cry with her. i can only imagine how much she misses my grandpa after 14 long years! i hope she is around a little longer so my children can meet their great-grandma dot! (this is not any sort of announcement)

i love you grandma dot!

my nephew, lincoln, was so excited for grandma dot to open her presents. he handed her each one and then helped her open it. the first gift was some stylin knee-highs...linc was so excited he was squealing! he proceeded to squeal with every gift she opened no matter what it was. he is such a crack up! i love him!
