2 years

as much as i knew this day would come, it seemed to far away. now it's come and gone. and i have a 2 year old. so far 2 hasn't been as bad as i expected. mostly, sophie is still her sweet, funny, loving self. sometimes we have tantrums and screaming, but mostly good. we started potty training just a couple of weeks after her birthday and she has done awesome. it's been about a month and she's all potty trained. it only took her a few days. in the last month, she's only had 2 accidents. yay! i just hope things don't regress. keep your fingers crossed!
we sure love our sweet 2 year old sophie!

we had a little party with cake, ice cream, family, and friends.

the party.

sophie, we sure love you! you are the center of our lives, and our lives would sure be different without you. we love having you in our family. you add so much fun and laughter. i love the silly conversations i have with you. you are so smart and know so many words, i feel like i'm talking to another adult. you are doing so many things other 2 year olds don't, and i'm always impressed at the things you know and can do. i love your personality, your love for playing and your imagination. you are always having fun. i'm so proud of how fast you learned how to use the potty. you are amazing! right now, some of your favorite things are coloring, stickers, anything princess, dora, playing with your kitchen, reading books, playing outside, swimming, jumping, dancing, and singing. you are always cracking us up with your songs and dance. you love to perform and have an audience to watch you. you are very loving and caring and you have so much empathy for others when they are sad or hurt. you love to go to nursery now, play with friends and cousins, and of course, grandmas and grandpas! you are such a sweetheart and i love spending my days with you!

snow bunny

for sophie's 2nd birthday we decided to take her skiing and to her favorite restaurant: chiken-fil-a (as she calls it). since i couldn't ski and we weren't sure if she'd like it, we just took her to powder mountain and let her play around on her skis. she LOVED it!

proof that i was really there.

getting all her gear on.

daddy helped her get her skis on and then took her up the hill.

jd kind of walked her down the hill the first time and then let her go on her own. she was a pro!

daddy telling her the rules: keep your toes together and sit down if you go too fast.

totally on her own. she wasn't scared at all.

she did have a couple of crashes, but (if you look closely) she's still smiling! and she kept saying, "i want to go again!"

mommy helping.

it got dark and cold pretty fast, and soph just wanted to just play in the snow and throw it after she was done skiing. so, we took off her skis and let her play. then, daddy helped her ski back to the rental shop. she did so awesome for her first time, and she can't wait to go again!

christmas 2011

we had a wonderful christmas. don't judge by the pictures. i kind of forgot about the pictures because i had the video camera going. hey, i can only do so much. at least we have video to watch and make fun of
later. here's what i did get.

soph trying to make off with daddy's peanut m&m's.

the mess. yikes. we had to run to my mom's, then to church, and my dad's so we left a good mess for the rest of the day.

we went to my mom's and had my favorite breakfast. fresh squeezed orange juice and breakfast casserole. mmm. we opened presents and then ran off to church.

so excited about her "baby boots"

baby miles. i'm not sure what i'll call him when he's not really a baby anymore. he's always been baby miles.

cooper.

oh man, were these two so excited.

modeling her skirt grandma made her.

someone gave her chocolate at grandpa's house. yikes.

soph was so excited bryce was here to visit. she loved playing with him. she was so nice to have a tea party with him, play kitchen, and even some dress ups. luckily, he didn't seem to mind.

probably her favorite christmas present from grandma. this little table. she does everything at it. tea parties, coloring, snacks, stickers, dolls, etc.

we were happy to have time to celebrate with our families the birth of Christ and the meaning of christmas. even though it took me a little longer to get christmas going this year and get in the spirit, we really enjoyed it.

november/december catch up

more catch up.

we went to the treehouse museum. i only took like 3 pictures. soph had lots of fun, but i was too busy watching her to take pictures.

soph LOVED playing in the leaves. i'm a little embarrassed to say i didn't really want to let her play in the leaves. i know, i kept thinking, "what is wrong with me?" every kid want to play in the leaves. i was trying to get them cleaned up before the storm, pregnant, and tired. i raked and she spread them out. about 10 times. it was really fun. for sophie.

this is the first snow storm of the year we were able to play in. soph had so much fun. she could hear the neighbors outside playing and she wanted to go out so bad. and of course, she looked cute.

she loves our next door neighbors. especially savannah. i wonder if she realizes they are 7 years apart?

getting ready for church. i blow dried her hair and she loved it. she was striking poses all over the place. she's so dramatic. and i love it. most of the time.

this is definitely my favorite. check out that attitude.

december 1, 2011 wind storm
luckily, this is all the damage we had. i should have taken pictures of the rest of the neighborhood. it looked like war zone. there was garbage everywhere. it was crazy to watch things flying all over the neighborhood. we were lucky enough to keep our power all day, so it wasn't too bad. we just stayed inside most of the day.

cheese!
